Soul Oasis Spa Guides Holistic Recoveries
Are you or someone you know struggling with addiction or mental health issues? Want to get help, but don’t know where to start, and would rather take a more natural and holistic approach?
At Soul Oasis Spa (SOS), they have tools to help any type of healing or recovery. Beyond the Float Tank and Aromatherapy that they’re known for, NADA Ear Acupuncture (also known as “acudetox”) is a “tool”
that SOS offers that has been proven to help with substance abuse, anxiety, sleep disturbance, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and much more.
Stephanie Amey, owner of Soul Oasis Spa, is determined to help Flint become a healthier place by using the NADA Protocol to assist those on the road to recovery. Amey suggests that acupuncture assists our body’s natural healing abilities and helps to replenish “stuck” energy. Further, NADA is a good way to get the full-body benefits of acupuncture without
taking your clothes off.
NADA has a Western approach that differs from other “alternative” therapies; it is a great holistic choice for any type of recovery and healing, for any type of person.
History of NADA “Nada” means “nothing” in Spanish and indicates a no-nonsense approach to healing without drugs. NADA (or acudetox)— and acupuncture, in general—helps a person’s “life force” energy flow more easily by assisting the body in finding homeostasis by manually stimulating ecific trigger points. Acudetox, or auricular (ear) acupuncture, is based on the fact that there are points for the entire body mapped out on the ear’s surface.
After years of research, the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) developed a protocol using just ear acupuncture and meditation to successfully detoxify the body, especially after the 70s heroine epidemic. Since then, it has been proven to help with a range of addictions and substance abuse issues, general anxiety, and mental and
behavioral health issues.
They’ve basically synthesized a Chinese method of healing with our Western health models to assist those in need of a different approach to recovery in America. Amey feels that by following a protocol like this, someone would be following one of the most effective holistic modalities there are to support the body through healing and recovery, especially where addictions and substance abuse issues are concerned.
Acupuncture has been around for thousands of years and is used for a variety of reasons. The use of acupuncture triggers the physical body to release endorphins, which helps to create a deep relaxation in mind and body. Thus, allowing someone to get into a deep meditative state of healing more easily. And, because the five NADA points correlate with the rest of the body, it initiates that deeper level of healing with minimal time commitment. The needles are hair thin and should cause minimal (if any) discomfort. Its benefits have been proven. So ultimately, it’s a great way to transition to a healthful, recovered life.
Meditation is something that accompanies NADA, and SOS facilitates this by showing clients how to only focus on the breath for an extended period of time. This allows them to dig even deeper into what it’s like to heal holistically, and from the “inside out.” Further, the SOS staff is skilled at guiding meditations and helping one get back to “center” in times of stressful thoughts.
Amey has Native American roots and extends a sense of peace and understanding that is unique and accepting to others. Working with her means learning more about all the new “alternative” healing “tools” SOS has to offer.
In addition to NADA, SOS offers a multitude of therapies, services, and tools to further support those on their wellness and recovery journeys including: Flotation Tank (Sensory Deprivation) Therapy, Aromatherapy, Foot Detox, Light Therapy (aka “Happy Lights”), Massage –Bamboo Infusion, Microblading, Tai Chi, Yoga, Reiki/ Energy Work, Iridology, Belly Dancing and Drumming Meditations.
